🍂 A Thanksgiving Note on Gratitude, Presence & the Gift of Food

Focus on Just One Thing This Week

As Thanksgiving approaches,

I’ve been thinking a lot about gratitude …

Not the kind we rush through at the dinner table

(“I’m grateful for family, health, and pie”), but the quiet kind that lives inside our everyday moments.)

The kind we often forget to notice.

The kind that slows your breathing…

softens your edges…

and reconnects you to what actually matters.

And strangely enough?

One of the most powerful places gratitude shows up is right on your plate.

🥗 Gratitude for the Food in Front of You

Most of us move through meals on autopilot.

We eat while scrolling, worrying, multitasking, or planning what’s next.

But food is not just fuel.

Food is a gift.

Every bite has a story:

 🌱 a seed planted

🌧 watered by rain

🌤 warmed by the sun

 🧑‍🌾 tended by hands

 🚜 harvested, transported, prepared

By the time it reaches your plate, your food has lived many tiny miracles.

It deserves a moment of thanks.

And you deserve to slow down long enough to feel it.

🍽 This Thanksgiving, Try This Mindful Moment

Before you take your first bite, pause just for a few seconds and think:

“Thank you for the journey this food took to nourish me.”

“Thank you, body, for receiving this nourishment.”

“May this food support me, calm me, and bring me energy for the life I’m building.”

Gratitude nourishes the nervous system as much as it nourishes the heart.

💛 Gratitude Is a Practice — Not a Holiday

Thanksgiving is a reminder, yes —

To notice the small things.

To savor instead of rush.

To honor what your body does for you daily.

To appreciate the journey of your food, not just the flavor.

When you bring gratitude into eating, you bring presence into your life.

And presence, my friend, is the foundation of healing.

Happy Thanksgiving, with warmth and presence.
