From My Heart to Yours: Why May Is One of My Favorite Months

with Mindfulness and Gratitude

Can you believe we’re already in May?

I’ve always loved this month—not just because everything is blooming, but because May feels like a gentle nudge to slow down and notice.

There’s something about it—the sunshine, the scent of flowers in the air, the way the days stretch a little longer—that makes me stop and think about what really matters.

We kick off with May Day, a quiet celebration of spring and renewal.

It’s not flashy, but it whispers, Start fresh. Begin again. And don’t we all need that reminder sometimes?

Mother’s Day is always emotional for me. Whether you're a mother, have one to celebrate, or carry a complex relationship with the idea of motherhood, it’s a day that touches the heart.

I always take a moment to think about the women who shaped me—and the ways I’ve tried to show up for others, too.

And let’s not forget: May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

That hits home for me. As someone who has supported so many women through stress, burnout, and emotional eating, I know how easy it is to forget our own needs.

May says, Hey—check in with yourself. Are you OK? Really OK? It’s not selfish to ask. It’s essential.

And then there’s Memorial Day, which brings a hush to the end of the month.

It’s a sacred time to honor those who gave everything. A moment to breathe and be grateful.

Oh—and history was made this May!

We welcomed a new pope—a global shift that reminds us that spiritual leadership and tradition still matter to many.

Whether you're religious or not, it’s a big moment for the world.

Yes…

May is full.

Full of feeling.

Full of meaning.

I think that’s why I love it so much.

It’s a beautiful time to reflect, reconnect, and reset.

If you're feeling the nudge to care for yourself a little more this month—

Whether that’s slowing down your eating, tuning into your body, or simply getting more sleep.

I’m here for you.

You don’t have to do it alone.

Wishing you a peaceful and heart-full May,

Warmly,

🔍 Inside This Episode:

What happens when a childhood illness turns into a spiritual awakening? When pain becomes poetry, and trauma transforms into truth?

In this soul-opening episode of the Professional Women’s Wellness Podcast, Dr. Peggy welcomes Cooper Harrison — author, meditation coach, musician, and healer —

whose story is a testament to what’s possible when we allow ourselves to truly feel, heal, and grow.

Diagnosed with leukemia at age 7,

Cooper’s journey weaves through bullying, athletic triumphs, identity loss, heartbreak, healing, and ultimately, awakening.

Through the power of meditation, creative expression, and deep introspection, he teaches others how to regulate their nervous system, face their pain, and reconnect with their soul.

His book, Grand Rising Universe, chronicles 111 days of spiritual dialogue — a journal of healing written in real time.

This isn’t just a conversation — it’s a mirror, a map, and a meditation on what it means to become whole.

How Childhood Cancer Shaped Cooper’s Inner World And Outward Path

The real reason we struggle with emotional expression — and how healing changes that

The role of art, poetry, music, and nature in building new neural pathways

How meditation and hypnotherapy can regulate trauma stored in the nervous system

Why feeling through pain is the first step to reclaiming your power

“I went from being a victim of my story to becoming the author of it.”

“Healing isn’t linear. It’s layered — and every layer deserves love.”

“Meditation didn’t just calm me. It introduced me to the parts of me I’d abandoned.”

“To become a strong man, I had to embrace the softness I was taught to fear.”

🎧 Listen now and let Cooper’s story remind you:

Healing is not a destination. It’s a homecoming.
